Due to changes in husbandry and feeding conditions, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract have become the most common indications in veterinary practice. There are many reasons for this: too much stress, too much grain with too little work, too little or bad roughage. This has among other things led to excessive, prophylactic use of omeprazole preparations in stress patients. However, since these products are basically only absorbed through the small intestine, the administration is in many cases not at all or not very helpful, since the intestinal flora is also significantly impaired in most gastric patients. The goal in developing the Mucostat was to optimally prepare the horse's entire digestive tract for the veterinary treatment regimen. A feeding-related alternative for stress-related stomach problems should also arise. Feeding trials in well-known clinics confirm the relevance of such a solution. The basis of mucOstat are expanded soybeans, they form an optimal basis for gastric administration. The integrated lignocellulose can bind the excess gastric acid. The abilities of the white feather poppy extract (Macleaya Cordata) consist in being able to positively influence the release of prostaglandin and thus indirectly influence the inflammatory processes in the gastric mucosa. As a rule, next to the stomach Mucostat also contains secondary constituents that also contain intestinal stabilizing / regenerating substances. Topninambur concentrate is particularly relevant here; a concentrated prebiotic which can stabilize the intestinal flora. The inulin contained therein serves as an excellent food base for bifidobacteria and supports the intestinal flora. The pectins contained in the pomace also have a stimulating effect on the intestinal peristalsis.
