Why are horse lead ropes so important for equestrian safety?

Lead ropes for horses are indispensable in the daily handling of sensitive horses, because they should never be led just by the halter. Lead ropes and leashes are effective aids for leading or tying up young, old, calm or temperamental horses. In general, they ensure safety during contact with our four-legged friends. High-quality horse lead ropes are therefore a must in every good riding stable. They are used in the following situations:

  • Walking through the stable, to the meadow or to training
  • Tying horses one-sided for washing, grooming or saddlin
  • Transporting them in a horse box

Use: All horse leadropes are attached to the ring provided on the halter with a hook. We recommend wearing gloves when leading the horse. This will protect your hands if the horse is restless and moves erratically, or if it is generally a rather nervous horse.

Which horse leadropes do we offer?

Different lead ropes are recommended for horses depending on the situation, the owner's experience and the horse’s temperament. A careful selection ensures safe handling in equestrian sports.

  • Models with snap hooks are opened and closed by hand. This type of fastening offers improved safety when handling boisterous horses. Inexperienced equestrians also benefit from snap hooks because they prevent the animal from escaping as a result of an overreaction.
  • On the other hand, horse leadropes with panic hooks can be opened quickly and easily using a pull mechanism if your horse should panic. That's why they are often used as a tie rope. Safety hooks therefore allow the rope to be released quickly in an emergency.
  • In our selected range, you will find horse halters and lead ropes in all price segments. The models use reliable, tear-resistant materials such as cotton, (braided) nylon or polypropylene yarn.
  • Whether it's a basic, nickel-plated, brass-plated or a horse halter and weaver lead rope or cotton lead rope combined – here, you’ll find the perfect solution for your horse.
  • We offer horse leadropes from well-known manufacturers such as Equiline, Eskadron, GoLeyGo, Kentucky Horsewear, One Equestrian, Passier, PS of Sweden and Schockemöhle Sports.
