Product description

Trust Pelham Sweet Iron eliptical

The Pelham Sweet Iron by Trust has a double broken mouthpiece, which means it fits loosely in the horse's mouth and has two hinges. It will put pressure on the interdental space, the corners of the mouth and the tongue. Care should be taken with this double broken mouthpiece on narrow lower jaws as it can put pressure on the interdental space. The Pelham side piece is a combination of the action of a curb and a snaffle. The long pulls provide long leverage and therefore increased neck pressure. If strong and clear aids are then given, the lever works all the more, which is why its use requires an experienced and sensitive rider's hand. The Sweet Iron mouthpiece has a special alloy which oxidizes in contact with liquid and saliva, creating a surface rust which tastes sweet to horses. Thus, the bit is well accepted by most horses and it stimulates salivation. The Pelham can be ridden with one or two reins and is ideal for horses that need to get used to a double bridle.

Note: When not in use, a thin layer of orange-brown rust will develop on the mouthpiece, this can be removed with a damp cloth and is not a quality defect!
