Trust Sweet Iron Pony Hanging Cheek Bit, jointed

The Pony hanging cheek bit is made by Trust and is a special variation of the olive head bit. This side piece has olive head rings with small ring on top. The cheek piece is attached to the small ring and the reins to the olive head ring, so that the bit lies very quietly in the horse's mouth and the rider's aids are transmitted directly. In addition, the side piece is firmly attached to the bit, which creates a lateral boundary and the corners of the mouth cannot be pinched. The jointed mouthpiece is thinner and specially adapted to the anatomy of the pony's mouth. The recognisable blue colour is a Sweet Iron alloy which oxidises on contact with moisture and forms surface rust. This rust tastes sweet to most horses, which naturally stimulates saliva production. The hanging cheek bit is often seen in the higher classes with pony riders.

Note: When not in use, a thin layer of orange-brown rust will develop on the mouthpiece, this can be removed with a damp cloth and is not a quality defect!
